So just got an email that my account was closed (I have a balance of a couple thousand on it). I’m assuming due to
inactivity as I haven’t used that card in almost a year if not longer (will call in the morning to verify thats the reason). I’ve never missed a payment, never been late on a payment (not with Discover or anyone).
My question now is what happens to my balance? I know it’s not going to disapear but do I need to pay it in full now (I can’t) or will I still be able to login online and make my normal monthly payments each month?
Discover just closed account, question?

They’ll still let you make normal monthly payments, the balance doesn’t become due immediately just because card is closed. You should still be able to login to your account and pay online like usual – they want their money back so they’re not gonna make it harder for you to pay
When you call tomorrow they’ll probably explain the payment process but I’ve seen this happen before and people just kept making their regular payments until it was paid off. The closure mainly just means you can’t use the card for new purchases anymore
my Discover account was closed due to inactivity and i can still log into my account (zero balance). i’m sure that Discover would be more than happy to allow you to continue accruing interest, but you can get confirmation on that when you call tomorrow
Generally you can continue to make payments and pay interest according to the terms and conditions of the account.
You can call them and ask them for clarification of payments going foward as well as why they closed the account. while you’re doing that, ask for a reduced interest rate since you can no longer use the card. worst they can say is no!
