Today at Firestone i wasnt thinking and i signed up for their credit card because it made my oil change cheaper. I do not plan to use it at all and i regret my decision. I have one main card that I rarely use sometimes just for gas and i pay it off completely every month. My main card has a limit of 3k and the Firestone card have a 5k limit. I plan on calling them later today to cancel it, is this a good idea?

I made a silly mistake today and i need advice

Just pay it off immediately and then never touch it again.

As long as it is a no annual fee card, keeping it for a while will actually help your credit score.

After enough time passes, if you never use it again, they’ll cancel it for you.

    2. The damage is already done, closing it now won’t reverse it. You can still cancel asap, but keep in mind the issuing bank if you want to do business with them in the future.

This is why it’s very important to have your credit frozen 24/7, and only unfreeze when you want to apply for a new line of credit. Seen way too much “accidental” CCs applications, especially store ones.

I don’t understand why you’re determined to cancel it?  The hard inquiry to your credit score is done, the card has no annual fee, just keep it… there’s literally no downside at this point🤷
