Not sure if you are looking for specific ecosystem but Amex Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Capital 1 Venture X are good options.
probably worth looking at cards with big signup bonuses since that’s decent chunk of spending in one go
Wells Fargo Autograph Journey
A lot of unknowns right now (other than taking an international flight with family)…
Yes, a few cards exist. I’d probably say Capital One Venture X as a good starter premium card with a decent SUB (75,000 miles) however other cards exist with higher SUBs if you qualify. It’s good for international flights and since it’s visa, don’t need to worry about its limitation of use (compared to Amex or some discover card).
It’s a great “catch all” card and it pays for itself if you take at least one trip per year OR spend at least $300 in hotels or rental vehicles per year. AF is $395 per year but again they give $300 credit each year for travel (use or lose every 12 months) plus 10,000 anniversary miles (1cpp = $100 value) that rolls over every year starting on your anniversary date of holding the card.
Some caveats: to redeem $300 travel credit, you must use the C1 portal (can’t just book directly with airline). However, if booked in portal, you can get 10x miles on hotels or rental vehicles, or 5x miles on flights. They will price match within 24 hrs of purchase if you find cheaper deals outside portal. You can also do “travel purchase eraser” which means you make any purchase related to travel and can just use your miles to “erase” the cost on your card.
Pros and cons using the portal, but I would say the card is notorious for simplicity of use and not needing to do coupon book chasing like other cards. Certain airlines also give you lounge access (only for primary card holder but option to pay $125 per authorized user for whole year or pay per each guest per visit) and covers global entry application cost (for one application). I’d do more research with it and check pre-approval to see if you’d qualify.
No, no there isn’t any travel card with rewards
