Hey everyone, I would love to get some feedback here… I'm currently mid 30s, an outside sales rep selling in a different industry, i.e. SaaS, Med device, etc. I pull in about 150-200k annually. A lot of changes for the worse are happening in my industry and the reset to 0 and chasing an always rising quota every year is killing me. I also don't care for the products anymore. I'm in hotels almost every week as well. I'm about to start a family and would love to be more local day-to-day.
I have been interviewing with an independent agency here in my city for a Commercial P&C role selling to SMB/Mid-Market. It's a small shop with maybe 15-20 employees, two primary producers. An opportunity exists for buying into the agency in 4-5 years once I've built my book up. They would also put me on a 3 year draw plan but we haven't talked numbers yet.
What do I need to know before seriously considering this? I love the guys I've met with in the agency so far, they seem very solid. I understand the first 3 years are a slog.
