Started actually reading labels after getting stung one too many times by the front of the pack.

    A few patterns I can't unsee now:

    • Sugar split across 3–4 different names (cane sugar, glucose syrup, fruit juice concentrate, invert syrup) so none of them land at the top of the ingredients list.

    • 'No artificial colours' on products using highly processed natural extracts that do the same job.

    • 'Made with real fruit' where the fruit is ingredient #9, behind sugar, glucose, and four thickeners.

    • Certifications that look official but are paid-for marketing schemes with no enforcement body.

    • 'Premium' and 'gourmet' positioning on products whose first ingredient is water or modified starch.

Curious what tricks have annoyed other people the most. Any products you've caught doing this lately?

Been reading ingredient labels properly for 4 months. Patterns I keep seeing.
