As the title says, the next presidential election will likely have the democratic candidate making promises about student loans. What promises could they make and actually keep given something as simple as the save plan was taken from us?

If the save plan was ultimately struck down, what promises could a future democrat candidate make And actually keep about helping us with student loans that wouldn’t get struck down?

    1. If it goes through congress and is written into law there’s no risk of a court challenge

    2. The reason why the save plan was struck down is because Biden unilaterally, without Congress, made a student loan plan.

If a democrat wants to make promises about student loans you have to pass it through congress.

    3. I would like to see interest capped on student loans to something like 1% or 2%. The government does not need to make a profit off of student lending.

Heck, there was a Republican (I forget who)that proposed this a year or so ago.

The next Democrat should just do it via war powers or whatever Trump does to get away with all the BS he’s doing.

Student loans are tax dollars already paid only serviced by banks. Why not serviced by the central bank that let other banks borrow at .05%?

Biden had a government trifecta after election that the Dems could have drafted law to help and save borrowers. They didn’t because they didn’t want to.

Trump used his trifecta for the OBBBA, his keystone legislation, which shoved borrowers heads into the bath water.
