So the government is going to give a joke of an airline a $500 million bailout to a company that has declared bankruptcy twice in the past 2 years??? Where’s my bailout? Let them all fail I say.

    1. Honestly this $500m will be gone in 3 months by payments to Citadel. They are the real winners here. Spirit does not have a viable business. This is a bailout for their creditors.

It is absurd. Some airline employees will lose their jobs and the air travel market in the US will become slightly less competitive.

This is probably the poster child case of the government not getting involved, but I am sure someone that donated money or bought some Trump crypto would have a financial loss from this, so the taxpayers will pay it, so it’s the poster child for the corruption in this administration.

The more things change, the more the stay the same.

    3. Are the executives pay suspended? Are the stock options within their remuneration package halted ? All other executive benefits suspended ? What are the repayment terms. ?

Ultimately this has to be a failure of leadership not lack of demand, if there is a lack of demand why is the government supporting a business doomed to failure?

Will executives bonus and stock schemes be halted until the business repays the tax payer ?

Shows the government was wrong to not allow Spirit and JetBlue to merge. JetBlue has had to pull out of cross-Atlantic routes and forgo aircraft deliveries. Their combined company would have had some cost saving synergies to keep them alive.
