I have two cars with USAA and with over $5,000 annual premium. Called USAA today to try and figure out why premiums are so high and learned and was told by 4 USAA employees that because I only have uninsured motorist bodily injury with comp + collision I would not be covered for property damage if my car is hit by an uninsured motorist. Meaning I would need to come out of pocket to repair my car.

They said I would need uninsured motorist property damage to ensure damage to my car would be covered. I've been driving around for 2 years thinking I had full coverage and am pissed that USAA never explained this. This does not sound correct. Thoughts?

Here is the rub… there is no such thing as full coverage. It is a term that exists outside the insurance industry, mainly for banks/ease of explanation. A huge misnomer. Generally it stands for just having standard Comprehensive and Collision.

Yes, that’s correct. There’s no such thing as full coverage. You’re supposed to read your declarations page/contract before signing to see this.

There is no such thing as “full coverage”. That term is not used by insurance professionals and means different things to different people.

Did you purchase this policy online or through an agent? Either way, you are responsible to confirm the coverages you have elected to purchase or not purchase.
