Are these loans federal, private, or a mix of both?

If federal, are the loans all yours or are there also Parent PLUS loans in your parent’s name?

If private, is there a co-signer?

    2. Since you have private – I would recommend refinancing. If you have a 2k payment on 120k on loans and it’s a 10 year repayment period, you would need 15% interest rate.

You should be able to at LEAST get that down to 7% (Or refinance into a longer, more reasonable term), which would be about 1300 a month. If you have great credit i’ve heard of 3-4% rates right now that would drop you to about 1150 a month.

    3. Check your hospital for tuition reimbursement. They’ll have programs to help pay back loans you took out during school.

Look for grants/programs in whatever state you’re in that will pay off a portion of your loan for serving a rural area if you’re willing to move. You could move to a small town, work for a handful of years and have large portion of your loan paid for you by the state.

Are you trained up already? As in, you’re capable of working independently within your hospital or are you still considered to be in your residency/training phase. If you’re trained up and confident in your skills, you can start picking up shifts or get a PRN at another facility.
