I am torn and ready to rage close all my accounts at Capital one and just need to vent before deciding.
I have been with capital one since ING, more than 15 years now. Everything has been mostly great until recently.
I currently have a Savor One, VentureX, Quicksilver, Checking and about $30k parked a C1. I have also formly had a Venture, Platinum, and the old Walmart card.
I recently went to Ireland and booked everything through the travel portal. I rented a car from Hertz, when I arrived they didn't have exactly what I booked – a 7 seat car for all of us and bags. I paid $1013 for the car. So I was forced to upgrade the car to a van style vehicle. The agent assured me the original booking would be credited back to my card. I was charged another $1,800 for the new booking. I waited weeks and the refund never came. So now I am out my original booking and the new one. I have contacted hertz support via phone and email multiple times, and they basically said they did nothing wrong and are not going to refund me anything.
I then called Capital One Travel, and then said there was nothing they could or would do. Now they did give me a $100 travel credit as a small token which was nice. but I'm still out $913 now in total.
Now I start the charge back. I provided all my evidence, even an email from Hertz stating they already credited my card for the original booking of $1013. But they never did. Capital Once decided to side with Hertz and now I'm out of luck and out $1013.
I know this is really all on Hertz, but Capital one really didn't help, being it was all through their portal too makes it worse.
Have you ever had an experience like this? Did you get it resolved?

You got scammed by Hertz
It is time for you to diversify your credit card and bank acct away from C1. You have been way too loyal to C1. There are other better players in the market for all these products.
I had a horrible experience the first time I ever used the CapOne portal. I rented an economy vehicle in Atlanta Hartsfield on Thanksgiving to a rental agency that didn’t have the correct permission from the airport to rent cars just yet.
I went to every rental counter and the only vehicle left was a pickup that cost 4x the price. It took several phone calls, but I was eventually able to get them to reimburse me the difference. Ever since that experience, I only book hotels using their portal.
