I’ve been with AMEX since 2023. No late payments and I’ve been steadily building my credit with the blue cash card. I previously had a $2600 balance on it, however, I paid it completely off so my credit should be going up. I have a 804 currently with that balance in my name. I’ve been wanting to get a travel card…possibly stay with Amex because of their great customer service, but what would you recommend?
Step above Amex blue cash card suggestions

nice work paying off that balance completely, thats huge for your score. with 804 credit you basically have your pick of premium cards now
i switched from blue cash to the platinum last year and the travel benefits are pretty solid – airport lounges saved me so much money during long layovers when i was traveling for work stuff. the annual fee hits different but if you actually use lounges and book hotels through their portal it pays itself back. gold card is also good middle option if you dont want to jump straight to platinum level fees
one thing though – amex travel cards work best if you can handle putting most expenses in it and paying off monthly. the points system gets way better returns when youre putting serious spend through it rather than just occasional purchases. might want to think about your spending patterns before deciding which tier to go for
