i “hit” someone while turning right at a red light this evening and she filed an accident report with the police officer and im worried it’s going to make my insurance go up. i genuinely feel like she did this on purpose bc ik there are people who will try to do that?? for what reason i dont know.

the only “damage” is a slight scuff on my car and a scuff and minor dent on hers. i hyperlinked pictures because i want to know if my insurance goes up if this is something i can dispute because it’s literally the most unserious thing i’ve ever seen. i’ve just got a bad feeling about it, the way the lady was acting was super weird and shady too.

i’m essentially wondering that if this incident does cause my insurance to go up if i can dispute it with the proof i have of it being extremely minor and much rather just an inconvenience than an actual accident.

i’m in the worst position to have my car insurance go up right now i absolutely will not be able to afford it. please someone help

will my insurance go up if a police report is filed for an extremely minor accident

You hit her. She controls her claim. Your insurance will be mighty upset to receive a claim for an accident you did not report.

You damaged someone else’s vehicle and you’re acting like you’re the victim? Yes, she can make an insurance claim against you which may make your rates go up.

By the way, that’s not a “minor dent.” That will easily be over $1000 at a body shop as that entire section will have to be repainted. You’re minimizing it as if it’s an invisible door ding. Nobody will just let that damage go if you’re at fault.

    3. If you are found at fault or partially at fault then yes its a possibility your insurance will go up.

It also depends on your age and driving history etc.

Dude, other party could get insurance info from your registration plate.

There are two ways: either you report to your insurance eith your version or they’ll do it. Choice is yours.
