Hey, high school student here
I am looking to build a program that solves real world finance problems people deal with
If you have run into something frustrating in areas like budgeting, investing, taxes, or tracking expenses that you could not find a good solution for, I would like to hear about it
Even small annoyances or things you feel should exist but do not would be very helpful
Appreciate any input

I’d like an options strategy that actually makes me money. Can you help me find one?
Something that teaches average joe the very basics of financial literacy
One problem is shipping in the Strait of Hormuz – if you find another route out I am sure the insurers will pay you handsomely.
I’ll venture a guess that you aren’t gonna get much help here. Financial apps for budgeting and all that are plentiful.
So depending on the actual assignment requirements, it wouldn’t be too difficult to create a python script that parces Yahoo finance data to back test a specific trading strategy (as an example). Put the historical pricing data in a table, create your target smiple moving averages, then create your if/then logic for the trades. I’d be suprised if there wasn’t a youtube video on it already even.
I had a great idea but didnt have any time to put it to use. Start a finance youtube channel. It will not only be a income revenue, takes around 3-5 hrs per week for recording and editing and it looks amazing on your resume if you frame it like “managed a social media platform with over x amount of followers for x amount of time.” You can also link it on your resume so people who are trying to hire you can see your knowledge in the field in real time. I can parter with you on this if youd like to collaborate. I am a college kid btw.
I took economics in HS and had a teacher who always asked us to consider why the efficient market hypothesis was so widely cited among academics, but so widely panned as nonsense by financial professionals.
Think about this seemingly simple question, and you’ll see a multitude of other problems in finance that need solving.
you can test finance ideas fast without heavy code.that way you focus on real problems like splitting bills or tracking subscriptions. been using runable ai it lets you build with prompts and share a working demo quickly for feedback
I suggest focusing your project on a topic that will be relevant to your audience, i.e. high schoolers. Budgeting, benefits of early savings and investing, building credit, etc.
The plague of gambling addiction in young men vs the wealth of slow saving and investing could be great. Lots of eye opening comparisons can be made
