I also received the “some or all of your student loans may be eligible for IDR discharge”. With the 5/8/26 opt out date.
At this point I don’t have enough information to make a decision whether to opt out and am super worried about the tax implications, especially because my 120 PSLF payment is at the beginning of June.
I have no idea what to do. I’ve tried calling Mohela and of course no one seems to know anything and I wouldn’t trust what they have to say anyway. I have nothing in writing confirming when my loans became dischargeable and when I tried the backdoor count- nothing adds up to 240 or 300 (I have both undergrad and grad loans). The closest count I have is PLSF. This is all just so wild! Help!
IDR Discharge email on 4/17/26 don’t know if I should opt out

If you are 100% certain you are going to qualify for PSLF in June, I would opt out.
