Hello,

Ive been using my Venture One card for a while now to cover my travel expenses for my job which I pay off with reimbursements twice a month, and covering per diem on my Citi DC card until I get the sub then ill switch to robinhood gold. This month though ive hit a problem with running into the card limit on my Venture One card and had to put a week of hotel billing onto the DC card which made me miss a whole x6 multiplier on miles for this week.

Anyway, I've really been wanting to upgrade to a Venture X card but probably wouldn't qualify till getting close to the end of the year (new accounts and inquiries recently), but credit karma says I have an excellent chance at getting the platinum AMEX approval.

Should I wait until I can qualify for the Venture X and just try to manage balance on the Venture one card or just go ahead and try to get approved for the AMEX platinum?

If it helps right now I have about 80k miles with Venture One but ill be using 60k in September, and Im not accruing interest right now on any of my cards. I'd like for my final setup to be one travel dedicated card, one per diem dedicated card, and one personal spending card, is that a decent goal?

    Thanks!

AMEX Platinum now, or wait and get Venture X.

might be worth checking if amex has any transfer partners that work better for your september redemption before making the jump.
