Historically, pure “dividend capture” strategies rarely outperform a long-term buy-and-hold strategy once you account for price drops, transaction costs, and taxes.
You also have opportunity costs associated with holding them waiting for the rebound, if it even comes.
Don’t believe that is a good stock-picking tactic.
Pick a stock for capital growth, stability or income.
They usually drop the amount of the dividend so it’s close to a wash. Except you have taxes and potentially fees.
