Why do crypto cards fail at checkout?

Tried using my crypto card a few times and kept running into random declines at the terminal. The most frustrating part is there's no clear reason, the funds are there, the merchant accepts Visa, but it still fails. Pretty sure it has something to do with how these cards pre-convert your crypto before the tap, which creates a timing gap where everything can fall apart. Has anyone actually solved this?
