Long story short. I have ~46k in loans through Nelnet.
Previously (pre COVID) I was on the SAVE plan with a $108 monthly payment. That was doable for me at the time and could be doable for me now.
Now with us losing the SAVE plan, my only options I have available through IDR is $484/month.
I make about 40k/year after taxes and my husband makes the same. So ~80k/year.. but we also have mortgage, his student loans, monthly bills, and a loan on our house from repairs we had to make 2 years ago that is $262/month.
I literally cannot afford almost $500/month and still be able to pay bills and feed us. I don't know what to do.
What are other people doing who just simply cannot afford any payment option?
Has calling really helped anyone?
Also; my nelnet account says I'm in forbearance until November 2028? Is that real?
