After 16 years working as a college planner, I've watched tuition spiral and families drown in debt while schools keep collecting tuition no matter what happens next. The system is broken—institutions profit but families bear all the risk.

I started a petition because colleges should be held accountable. If students can't find jobs or afford their loans, schools should help, not just cash tuition checks. We're asking for stronger accountability: transparent metrics on debt and outcomes, meaningful scholarships, and yes, colleges taking on financial responsibility when graduates struggle.

This isn't about punishing schools. It's about shifting the balance so everyone has skin in the game. Right now, families shoulder nearly all the burden. Does this feel as backwards to you as it does to me? If this resonates, consider signing and sharing it. The more people who call for change, the harder it is to ignore.

Colleges need to actually take responsibility for student debt
