This study has to do with scarcity and farming efficiency, concepts directly in line with economics. The study suggests we lose up to half of our total crop production due to inefficiency and waste, enough to support another 7.2 billion people. some of these were due to beef and pork farming, but decreasing beef consumption to recommend levels would allow food production for an additional 850 million more people. While there are certainly choices made and premiums paid as a result, the paper does take an economics perspective while analyzing the data, framing these as inefficiencies. I hope my assessment was free from editorializing.
