My house burned down in 2025, and after many months of back and forth between the remediation company, insurance company, and bank, we are hopefully able to begin construction.

The fire spread through the attic so I really wanted to vault the ceilings, and, as the entire roof was coming off anyway, wasn’t sure what the big deal is.

I’m now told that I’ll have to have the previous to fire 8ft high ceiling despite the fact that all trusses are coming out and the roof has to be entirely replaced. Or it’ll be 130k out of pocket.

I don’t know what to do. I don’t know why this is so hard. The corporate company working on this seems more interested in making the insurance company happy than me.

Is there anything I can do?
