Hello. I had a question about my moms rent to own situation. So my mom has a rent to own contract and the property has been paid off. Problem is we cannot get ahold of the landlord. He says we owe him the taxes for the past 5 years but will not communicate the amount. We have been trying to contact him for months. We don’t know how much we owe from here on out and if the payment arrangement is the same. Should we keep paying the amount we’re paying now? I don’t even think he realized the property itself has been paid off. Thank you for any advice!!

You should probably consult a lawyer
If the taxes have been unpaid to the county, you can look that up online. Either the county treasurer or auditor.
You may also be able to find a recorded copy of the rent-to-own contract on the county recorder’s site.
Rent to own agreements are notoriously difficult to enforce. You are likely going to need an attorney because the seller is showing you that he’s not going to abide by the agreement
My county goes 3 years w unpaid taxes then foreclose.
Get an attorney. No one here knows the answer.
