I never saw value in the PR to begin with. I just got it for the greater SUB knowing that my end game (card I actually wanted) was the UCR. I waited a year and contacted them once I saw the $95 AF hit. Now I just need to wait and see that $95 returned.
I will say that the PC process with BoA is more time consuming than it needs to be. I've done successful PC/downgrades with Amex, Chase, Capital One and Citi in the past and all were far quicker than this. I'm almost certain all of those were done through chat/message meaning never having to speak to a human being.
I started my request with a BoA chat session. I was quickly informed that a PC cannot be done via chat, so I was given a number to call. After calling that number and talking to someone for 3-4 minutes, I was told I needed to be transferred to a different "specialist" to move forward with my request. A little more wait time, then 20+ minutes on the phone with the specialist to get the job done. Lots of questions, small talk, being put back on hold briefly, and being thanked for being a customer more times than I can count. Total call duration was 32 minutes, which was more time than I had expected to invest.
Anyway, the PC is complete so overall success. I'll enjoy the remaining time of the elevated rewards with Preferred Rewards program before the nerf kicks in 😉
Successful downgrade from BoA PR to UCR.

This is only one of the few major gripes I have with BoA.
I have the PRE, and every time I’ve called (which has been a ton thanks to it being BoA), each call takes no less than 10-15 minutes on hold before I can even speak to anyone. From calling to ending the call, it takes an average of 20-30 minutes EVERY TIME! This is absurd to me.
I bank with Chase, and although some of their cs is overseas, any issues I’ve had, weather that is recon, fraud charges, downgrades, etc have never taken longer than 5 minutes start to end. Most times I can just send a message or have a branch deal with it.
I was a solid believer in who cares too much about how long it takes on the phone with a bank, since you rarely will need to call anyway. Unfortunately with how shitty BoA, I have to call a lot. This has me considering downgrading or cancelling this card after a year.
Is it possible to PC in person? I’m sure that would take longer than 30 minutes, but calling often aggravates me more than just talking to someone in person.
I also picked up our UCR by PCing from a PR.
It’s a great way to pick up a no-FTF version of the card and use it as a true, international catch-all.
866-866-2059 connects you directly to an analyst who can do the product changing, saving a pile of time. They can also re-allocate your limits (I changed it so all my CCRs have the same limit, just to keep it simple).
