BoA TR to CCR successful product change before 1 year mark

Reporting a data point others might find interesting, and I haven't seen this mentioned much elsewhere. I have a Bank of America Travel Rewards card that I've been wanting to convert to a Customized Cash Rewards card to get one with no foreign transaction fees. I was planning on waiting for the card to be open for one year since that usually has to be the case before you can product change a card, but with the preferred rewards changes coming up I wanted to take as much advantage of the current higher earning rates as I can. So I called Bank of America requesting a product change and they surprisingly said yes even though I've only had the card open for about 6 months. So it is possible with Bank of America to do product changes before the 1 year mark for cards with no annual fees.
