I love to peruse Zillow, though not actively looking to buy, and have noticed several listings touting foundation work on the house as a positive. Would you see it as such or expect there to be further maintenance needed down the line?

My realtor said foundation repair can range from $20k-$80k+, plus permits and time. I passed on the perfect property for me because of wonky floor levels and ladder cracks in the wall. We put a marble on the floor and it rolled across on its own.
But if you have the cash set aside for it, I say go for it
What happens if the company that did the repair goes bankrupt and you no longe have a warranty on it? I’ve seen some real crooked stuff, so I’d definitely pass on a listing like that.
It depends on the area.
In my area, it’s not if you will need the work. It’s when you will need the work.
So if it is already done, that’s a huge bonus.
So look at other houses in the same neighborhood and see if they say the same thing. Then you know it is a when, not an IF type thing.
But no, I do not see it as a red flag. But I would pay extra to have plumbing scoped during inspection. That’s where the hidden costs will come from. Most else is cosmetic.
It entirely depends on where you are talking and whether the home is on or near a hill. On flat land with clay soils, having foundation repair mean you may not have to do it in the future.
