Location Southern NJ
Age 32
2026 Accord Hybrid EXL
Driving since 2016 (10yr)
One violation for delaying traffic
One accident last month where I hydroplaned into the back of someone.
NJM quotes 286 per mo/ for 12 months
AAA quotes 768 for 6 mo
Both for coverage at 100/300/100
Is this common or is it that AAA needs more specific info to accurately quote? Both quotes were through their websites, I just read that calling directly gets more accurate quotes but i’m not sure how accurate that is.
Geico wants to charge me 486 per mo on this new vehicle and they are my current carrier. Going up from 200 per mo on the 2010 accord that was totalted. 35/70 bodily injury. PIP 25. Underinsured 25
NJM quote vs AAA is varying wildly, what gives?

Carriers can rate completely differently based on their loss data. I’ve received quotes at $100/month and $2,000/month.
As long as coverage is similar, it’s typically best to go with the cheapest price.
Though, if you have claims/tickets/etc., it’s possible that online quotes aren’t fully accurate yet.
Whatever you’re seeing online maynot be accurate. Those are often pre-underwriting, and can change significantly once the carrier fully underwrites the policy. New Jersey has a 60-day underwriting window.
It’s possible that only GEICO is currently aware of your most recent accident, and since it’s an at-fault accident, it’s significantly impacting premium. You may want to call NJM and AAA and ask directly if that accident has been factored in to the quotes you’re seeing.
Your limits are probably too low for what it’s worth. If I’m you, I see what 250/500/250 with 250 in UM/UIM will cost.
