It’s not that strange.
Take a commodity that’s sensitive to weather, for example.
Weather follows mathematical laws.
Larger forces, like the movement of the sun, determine smaller ones, like cloud formation. It’s complicated, but ultimately it’s just mathematics.
And since it’s a market, if everyone knows it’s going to be too wet, people will naturally sell/short earlier than they otherwise would.
