I have a car that is fully paid off. I currently don't have my license (not suspended just never got it). I can't find a reasonably priced insurance policy under my name because I'm not licensed. If I insure and register the car listing my friend as the primary driver, will this cause any issues legally? Or will it affect his credit or existing insurance rates? It would only be temporary, at most for the rest of the year until I got my license, then I'd put everything under my name

Edit for clarity: I have my learners permit. The purpose of doing this is to get my car registered so I can finish learning in my car. The car was my dad's, who passed, and is part of my inheritance. I have not been driving the car. Legally everything would be in his name, including the title, until I got my license, then I would just put everything in my name, as if he "sold me the car" on paper. I wouldn't be using it alone, he'd be with me every time I was in it until I got licensed

Can I register and insure my car under my friend's name?

    1. How do you own a car without a license? If you get stopped, they check and you don’t have a license, you get a ticket and the car could be impounded. You shouldn’t be operating a vehicle without insurance or a registration.
