Hi everyone, I know Gas Buddy is pretty good for finding cheap gas but I’m not sure it has this specific feature I’m looking for – the app has becoming more bloated over the years since I’ve first started using it.

Anywho, I’m looking for an app that takes into account the price to travel to a gas station with a better price but maybe a longer distance, to see if it’s worth the travel over closer has stations with middle or higher priced gas. I’m just interested in the math but not interested in doing it myself if I don’t have to. TIA!

Gas App that Takes into Account Travel to Gas Stations?

    1. lol. It would depend on your make and model of car. How you drive. Tire pressure. Etc. If the goal is to save 5 cents it’s not worth your mental energy. Otherwise if you know you mpg you can do quick math in you phone and keep it in your notes. Is this generation rally this dependent on apps to do division? If your car gets 20 miles to the gallon. And you are one mile from the gas station it will cost you 1/20 of a gallon. If gas is $4.50 you will spend 23c of gas to get there.

Say you have a 20gal tank and you drove a few miles to save 20¢/gal. Even if you fill the whole tank the maximum possible savings is $4.

Stop thinking so hard about it and just get gas when you need gas. Load current app, find nearest station on way to destination, fill however much you fill. Don’t drive out of your way to “save” a few cents.
