I'm doing some research on the history of the rebate for the centurion card. I see there was a nerf that occurred in September of last year for the business platinum where you can now only earn the 35% rebate back through your chosen airline (similar to incidental). Is this only an Amex business platinum nerf or did this affect the centurion cards 50% rebate as well?
Also, is there trick to switch airlines outside of January of each year so your not completely cooked? I saw someone mention in another thread that as long as you don't use your incidental credit that you can just call in and they'll change it for you. I don't know how accurate or up to to date the information is as a lot of the threads I red up on were 6+ months old.
Follow up question to that, does this mean for international bookings, your now limited to only the available airline options you have to choose from? In other words, you can't earn a rebate on bookings that are through airlines outside the US unless booked through one of the American flying companies?

The centurion card wasn’t affected by that business plat nerf – it still gets the full 50% back on flights regardless of airline. That change was specifically for business platinum only.
For switching airlines mid-year, yeah that trick still works if you haven’t touched your incidental credit yet, but they’re getting stricter about it lately 💀 As for international bookings, you’re right that you’d be limited to your selected US carrier for the rebate now, but most people just book codeshare flights to get around this anyway 😂
