I have a cousin in Georgia, USA, who was recently involved in a wreck with an uninsured driver. They were rear-ended while at a red light, and the at-fault driver was speeding. Will their premium go up if they file an uninsured motorists claim??? I'm not familiar with Georgia laws since I live in Texas, but I'm pretty sure there's a law protecting the not-at-fault driver from their rates increasing when involved in a crash, but I can't tell if that extends to UM claims as well…

Why do you care about future rates? You’re describing an immediate catastrophe and your question is in regards to future monthly insurance payments? To be clear, you are talking about taking legal action against their own policy. Basically becoming the plaintiff and msking the insurance company the defendent on their own policy. Yeah basically anywhere, suing your own company will make them want to raise your future rates.
