I’m sure they feel like they can operate with impunity due to their massive market share/name brand/footprint.

I agree they’ve crossed the line of being bad in every area – high prices, bad/nonexistent service, long waits, reduced or flat portions/quality.

Only thing that would make them change is a change in consumer habits. So, don’t go, tell people how much it sucks. Give bad reviews on Google.

What would make it worth it again?
      1) actual convenience – no waiting in a spot 10 minutes for drive thru
      2) return to viable pricing. McDonald’s never been high quality, but you could get a snack cheap or a bunch of filler food cheap.

If I’m gonna wait and spend $15 I can get Applebee’s takeout burger for less..

There is somewhat of a way to roll back McDonald’s price hikes from the past few years, but you have to jump through a lot of hoops. Some places sell discounted gift cards (Meijer for example has 10% off gift cards several times a year).

So if you use a credit card with a high multiplier to buy a discounted gift card to McDonald’s, and then use the coupons inside the app to get further discounts, you can roll back all the price hikes from the last few years.

So the dismal Economist way to look at it is they’ve only raised prices for people who aren’t price sensitive and they’ve kept prices mostly the same for people willing to surrender their data to them.

They’ll never be worth it to me, but their most recent report showed a 7% increase in net income so they’re apparently worth it to a lot of people!

    4. Personally I have not bought any food from McDonalds in a while. Probably months.

To me, the food quality has gone down at the same time prices have gone up.

So, if food quality goes up, and prices were more tolerable, I might go to McDonalds more.

I have not analyzed national trends or anything. This is all anecdotal.

Nothing. I’m done with fast food in general. Even if the prices dropped and quality increased, I don’t think I’m coming back.
