I borrowed way too much money from Sallie Mae starting from 2019. I thought back then, with a cybersecurity bachelor degree, I would be able to find a job easily. Oh how wrong I was. I have been struggling to find a job for almost 3 years. I only managed to get 2 virtual interviews, and that's it. I even applied for other jobs that are not IT related like retail or customer service but nothing so far. I have been doing Ubereats for almost 3 years, and I only can make minimum monthly payments. Right now I can't even make $2000 a month, and I am 2 months behind. I am $4000+ behind right now and soon to be more. Sallie Mae has been calling me nonstop lately, but I didn't answer any of their calls. My parents cannot help me right now due to personal reasons. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm so screwed and at risk of being homeless. Any advices would be appreciated.
I made the biggest mistake in my life by borrowing $150k+ just to attend college, and I deeply regret it. I don't know what to do

What degree do you have? Are there any loan forgiveness programs you can find?
Talk to Sallie Mae and ask for forbearance. Submit proof of income and see what payment plans they can accept. If you’re behind too long, they’ll sue for a judgment which sticks around for over 10 years and looks very bad on your credit.
The issue with cyber jobs right now is that they have gone all in with AI garbage. If you want a job in that field, you’ll need to learn how to use those tools, which you can do online for free. Check out learning from Amazon, Google or Cisco. Get a couple free micro credentials and consider jobs that may require relocating.
Do you have a cosigner? What are your interest rates? This sub doesn’t advocate default but since you are already behind ironically that will make your lender more willing to negotiate with you
I have the same amount of debt and I work a part-time barista job. Hang in there, you are not alone.
do not let it go to default. They might garnish wages and will be worse. Tey to negotiate and go in forbearance.
Just go into the Air Force Reserve and apply for a civilian job with any branch or a tech company. They like to seem patriotic. Only go Air Force! That’s what my son did he now works for one of the big 4 tech companies. Makes over $90k.
