I have a Capital One Venture Rewards card with a $95 annual fee. This is my second year on this card and my annual fee just hit my account yesterday.
I want to downgrade from Capital One Venture Rewards to the no annual fee Capital One VentureOne Rewards card.
I called customer service and was told I can only do a product change to Quicksilver One credit card with a $39 annual fee as I am only eligible for this. I asked for other options and they mentioned eligibility offer changes everyday and I can go to offers and upgrades page on capital one website and check for offers as well.
I checked on my account page and there are no offers.
I called back and a new agent tells me – I can only downgrade to a Quicksilver one card since that is the only offer available. He also proceeds to tell me that 1. My annual fee on Venture Rewards will not be reversed and 2. My new Quicksilver One card that is a product change will going forward be charged an annual fee of existing credit card of $95 even though a Quicksilver One card has an annual fee of $39.
This is so outrageous. Not only are they saying hey you can only downgrade to a specific option we give you but also I will keep paying the same annual fee as the original card. How exactly is this a downgrade?
I feel like I am getting random conflicting advice from Capital One customer service.
Please share advice on how to navigate this. What are my options? Are there any specific clauses in my credit card agreement that I can cite to get customer service to stop playing around and give me a real solution. Thank you.
Capital One not allowing me to downgrade. Need advice.

You can try this: [https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/1ss9gik/adding_productupgrade_to_the_end_of_the_url_on/](https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/1ss9gik/adding_productupgrade_to_the_end_of_the_url_on/)
Otherwise, your only option is to cancel. C1 algorithmically offers PC options and not all options may be available to you at all times.
The second agent you got is just wrong though. PCs with annual fees will adjust accordingly.
It’s strange they’re not giving you zero-fee options as if you wouldn’t even qualify for a new Quicksilver card. Any recent changes in your credit or dustups with CO?
Did you try asking for a retention offer? Worth a shot.
