“Apple Inc. has held exploratory discussions about using Intel Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. to produce the main processors for its devices, a move that would offer a secondary option beyond longtime partner Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.”

Smart honestly. Taiwan just sitting right off the coast of China ain’t exactly ideal when all your chips get sourced from there.
I remember Intel once rejected an offer from Apple to build mobile chips for them
$INTC is a damn $1000 stock isn’t it?
Big brain move from Apple tbh. Having all your eggs in one basket with TSMC is risky as hell especially with all the Taiwan drama going on
Plus Intel desperately needs the revenue after getting absolutely destroyed in mobile chips for years. This could actually save their foundry business if they can pull it off without screwing up yields

Apple going back to intel is the plot twist nobody asked for lmao
Even more reason to get into DRAM
I don’t think people who work in the semiconductor industry take these types of rumors seriously.
“It ain’t the things we don’t know that get us into trouble. It’s the things we know that just ain’t so.”
Probably stock go up.
God damn. That would send INTC in to the stratosphere.

Apple hedging its bets. Less about performance, more about not relying on one supply chain. Intel comeback arc might actually get interesting.
This is the new Intel. Before LBT, it was a one way trust. Customers provide the chip design to Intel. Now under the new CEO, it’s two way street.
At this point even AMD might go to Intel Fabs if we continue to have supply constraints, they are already in talks with Samsung
None of those companies have fabs that can even match TSMC in sheer yield
Taiwan is at least 1 to 2 entire years ahead of everybody else in the game
If they do source from Intel and Samsung you can be guaranteed they’re gonna be less performant than anything coming from TSMC
