If you stay at an IHG hotel, for example, and pay with the CSR, would Chase apply the $250 Chase Travel Hotel credit to that by default? Or could Chase apply the $300 general travel credit and leave you with the less flexible hotel credit?

I actually had the same question sometime back, but my understanding is both credits get applied and you end up with a negative credit balance.

So if you book a $250 IHG hotel, you get both the $250 IHG and $250 portion of your general travel credit, resulting in a -$250 balance. This is based on the DPs I’ve read though and not from personal experience.
