Hi all,

    I’m a F(25), salary $145k base, live in a LCOL area.

    Below are what I have in total. I don’t have any debt, but I’m driving an ‘04 Honda Civic and even tho I plan to drive it until it breaks, I still might have to replace it in the future. I definitely want a used car so I don’t have to take out debt. I also bought a house and have $230k left in it. The problem is I have a pretty demanding job and I’m not planning to stay with this job forever. My parents are older so I want to spend more time with them and with future kids. I plan to aggressively save (I’m aware that my saving rate isn’t great based on this but I’ve only been working full time job for 3 years and I weren’t always making my current salary) and pay off my house in the next 4 to 5 yrs. So that if anything, I don’t have to worry about my mortgage, which is my biggest expense.

    I’m still not sure what I want to do to coast, but I want to ask for some advice on what you did or are doing to coast and how do you know when you’re ready to coast. Also, what do you do after you coast? I’m thinking maybe teaching high school when I’m ready to quit but I don’t know. Thank you in advance!

    401(k) = $50k

    HSA = $26k

    HYSA (emergency saving) = $21k

    HYSA Savings = $20k (I do realize that I just have this money lying around and not investing, but I’m a child of immigrant parents and an immigrant myself, I like to have money where I can easily access because I also help my parents with their finance when they need it)

    HYSA = ~$8k (I have about $650/monthly of passive income that goes into this)

    Planning to coastFI in the future

      Where’s your passive income coming from?

      I’m not quite sure what your actual plan is here. It sounds like you don’t have a concrete plan and are just kind of deciding to coast FI at some point without a plan?

      What is your spending you plan? What’s your target investment amount for coast FI?
