Don't trust Elan Financial with the $150 bonus on behalf of Fidelity Visa Rewards program. Elan won't help resolve getting the $150 bonus issued/managed by them, and Fidelity's hands are tied b/c Fidelity doesn't manage the advertisement – Elan Financial DOES.
(Elan will ask for a 'prom-code' if you call inquiring about the $150 promotion, but there isn't one. It's apparently embedded (hidden) in the application link which Elan can choose whether or not they wish to honor.)
I feel bad for Fidelity having to do enduring doing business with Elan Financial.

Not sure what trouble you’ve had, but I had the opposite experience. I forgot to sign up using the promo link, called in, and they gave it to me anyway. I’ve never heard of any bank actually doing this TBH.
All signup bonuses are dependent on going through the correct link/offer/code, yes.
The $150 offer hasn’t even been advertised for a while…it’s only available through specific links at the moment. You’re usually not going to get them to retroactively apply it if you didn’t apply with the offer in the first place, but YMMV with some anecdotal datapoints.
There is no $150 sign up bonus right now.
