About a week and half ago I hit a driver who tried to cross the through road I was driving on without slowing, stopping, or looking. I hit his passenger side door, had I been a split second earlier he would have hit me right on the driver side door he was going so fast. He told both me and the police officer on scene that he didn't realize he was supposed to stop and yield, hence why he didn't.

I have collision coverage and my car is a total loss. The next day the damages adjuster told me that the other insurance is likely going to call and that I'm not required to answer, and if I do I should just direct them to her info.
They called once last week, then yesterday, then today. I missed all of them because I was working at the moment but they've left messages each time. After today's call, however, I received a text from said insurance company saying

*Hi Parrotcotato, thank you for reporting ####### to MAPFRE Insurance. You can communicate with your adjuster XXXXX XXXX via text. * And so on.

    My questions are:

    A) what is this? I've never even talked to them, nonetheless reported anything to them.

    B) Should I communicate with them? I know for certain I'm not at fault, there's no way I could be. My agent called later last week that they viewed the police report, that I'm 100% not at fault and that they're going to waive my deductible. I guess I'm just worried that their insurance is going to try and snag me in some gotcha! questioning to try and reduce blame for their client.

Thank you for reading, my apologies for the length

At fault party's insurance keeps calling me, and now says I've made a report with them?

      A) Probably a pre filled text message.

      B) If you are going through your insurance, you do not have to. They often want to confirm if you are injured or not. Your insurance can let them know what your statement and facts of loss are.

It is an automated text message. It’s just working with the input it’s given.

Free free to call them and do as your adjusted mentioned. Insurance adjusters are required to complete an investigation and also attempt to contact all claimants. That is all they are doing… their job. You could make it easier by returning their call and just letting them know you filed with your carrier and give them your adjusters info.

Don’t ignore their calls, because that delays the full investigation for everyone involved. Answer the phone and either provide them your statement or tell them you’d like for them to get your statement from your insurance company.
