I don’t understand this narrative, and I’ll display my ignorance for you guys to point and laugh at.
Why would Iran stop pumping and risk their wells?
Why wouldnt they dig a deep trench and dump the oil they can’t process.
Its not like we’re talking about the most ardent Greenpeace members during the best of times.

Wasn’t the price supposed to be $200 per barrel by now?

Are they just loading into decommisioned tankers as has been publicized over the last couple of weeks? Surely these tankers won’t try to get past the USA blockade.

If Iran wasn’t attacked by the US, then what really happened!? Is Iran really attacking its neighbors or is that all fake, too!?

I live in Oklahoma. I had a girlfriend from Georgia because of a summer job and she came to stay with me for a week over fall break. Of course I showed her around where I live and she took a picture of an oil well. She’d never seen one before but the well wasn’t in service (pumping up and down) just stuck in the up position.
Later that day, she made me pull over to take a picture (still image!!!) of a ‘working’ oil well. I laughed and laughed. She didn’t get it.

I’m pretty sure they’re used to getting sanctioned and their oil infrastructure being slow af

Why would you believe anything trump says?

what he says doesn’t contradict the claim that the storage is getting full though. It was well known expected strategy of Iran to use outdated tanker as backup storages, and also look at the silvery thing on the sea, those are oil slicks, which could be caused by leak or dumping
Hilbert_Space_Heater on
As Iran runs out of storage they will need to shut-in wells, and shut-ins can cause damage. However – when they are ‘out of storage’ is a fuzzy line. It depends on how well they use their storage, how much they can put on water, how much they can smuggle out, etc. And the shut-ins too are more of a gradual process. They’re not going to shut everything down at once. They will be selective on which wells they choose, it’s more of a gradual thing. Obviously they will start with wells where damage is less likely.
So, the pain for them will be more gradually increasing as storage becomes tighter and tighter, and they start having to shut-in wells where the risk of damage is higher.
By the way – them loading whatever tankers they can is part of this tightening. They will use up whatever floating storage they can access as part of the plan. That they are loading ships doesn’t mean anything really about how tight the situation is getting.

I dont know what to believe.
I do struggle to think the US would have any difficulty beating up a country if Im being totally honest.
We could argue the purpose of each engagement, the expected consequences, or whether its a good idea to spend as much on military as they do, but yeah, pretty sure the US can blow up whatever it wants logistically speaking.
In absolute reality I think its trump pumping oil again before his weekly planned dump and taco Tuesday.

That would have been big news. But it essentially means a year plus of high gas prices as infrastructure is built to replace it around the world (and the war stays on since Iran has nothing left to lose). The blockade essentially does the same thing, it just costs more.
