so ive been getting more into baking lately and honestly mixing dough by hand is starting to get old real fast lol

thinking about finally getting a stand mixer but there are way too many options and some of them are kinda pricey tbh

mostly planning to make cookies, cakes, and maybe bread here and there

budget around $200-500. what are you guys using that actually feels worth it??

Best stand mixer worth buying right now for home baking?

I bought a factory refurbished KitchenAid mixer. It doesn’t come with a warranty but way cheaper than buying brand new. I’ve been happy with it so far.

I like my KitchenAid 7-quart bowl-lift, but it’s at the top of your price range. I like it more than the tilt-head model, especially if you’re mixing denser doughs.

Kitchen-Aid is the usual go to, and you can find a lot of resources on the different models. New ones can be pricey (but generally worth it), but they’ve been around so long that you can find used ones. They’re common enough that accessories, bowls, etc are easy to find. There are even tutorials on basic maintenance.

I think America’s Test Kitchen did a segment not too long ago on recommended mixers. They always have a “best budget” option.

I have a Kitchenaid Artisan mixer. It’s about 20 years old and I use it multiple times a week for the last 6 years or so (before that was more sporadic). 100% worth the money, would buy another in a heartbeat.

My family also have other models of Kitchenaid mixers that are older than mine and still work like a charm. Which model you go with should depend on what you need it for—larger models are great for larger recipes, smaller ones will be find if you’re making small-regular orders. Check out the features and match up which ones match the recipes you make the most.

Thrift stores and Facebook marketplace. You don’t need a new one and there’s always people realizing that they don’t use it enough to keep.

This tends to be a ‘buy once, cry once’ type of purchase.

I’ll be shook if you get many answers that aren’t KitchenAid.

I found a new-in-box Kitchenaid tilt head for $250, which is half price. I assume somebody who was able to get their hands on overstock items from various places was selling it. I mention this because this was the same price as buying a refurbed unit, but I was able to register it for the full warranty!
