My elderly parents moved within Texas…. and we believe they were (likely) stolen from…
They've just discovered their small safe is missing (yes, I know they probably should NOT have sent it through movers but they are old… and are perfect victims). They saw the safe removed from their home but now realize it was never delivered. They contacted moving co. who said they will "look into it" but nothing further…. Yes, yes… they could have paid closer attention.
Does anyone have advice on how to handle the situation at this point? I'm guessing its gone and we won't get it back…
I'm hearing: file police report (in progress), send written notice to moving co., file bbb complaint (done), and (possibly) contact TXDOT.
Am I missing anything?
Advice is appreciated. Moving company is a big one based in Dallas (All My Sons).
UPDATE: When confronted, the Moving Company claimed they put the safe in a bedroom closet. It wasn't put there. When they were told that, they claimed some workers onsite (who are family friends) MUST have stolen it.. They didn't. My sense is this was an organized theft…
