My car was totaled recently by an uninsured driver and I sustained a bad injury to my hand. Police report and my dash cam puts them at fault.
Nothing severed but I saw a specialist and he said I'm going to be combatting some long term issues with stiffness and will need special PT. I am also missing three weeks of work minimum worth about 10K. I have pain in a lot of places but no fractures. Idk what the hospital bills will be yet as I got transported by EMS on scene and they did X-rays and CT as well as laceration repair.
My uninsured motorist coverage limits are as follows:
– Property Damage 50K each accident
– Automobile medical payments 10K
– Uninsured Motorists Insurance for Bodily
Injury 50K each person / 100k each accident
It's shitty my limits are so low but it is what it is.
I am concerned about diminished earning capacity long term as both hands are important for my job. Loss of dexterity will be limiting.
Do I need a lawyer to help get the max payout from the insurance to or bodily injury and lost wages / pain and suffering? 50K isn't that much and I know that the lawyer would get 1/3
