      Yes

Though a bunch of perfectly even purchases might look weird. Maybe do it with your normal grocery spending.

Also with what you’re getting from the welcome offer, 1x from non category spend is ok.

Occasional gift card spend won’t raise any eyebrows. But if you’re doing it constantly then it could land you in trouble. That’s one way people game the system.

Using gift card spending to meet a bonus is risky and recommended against. Amex frequently gets L3 data so can see the line items of what you buy, and they have a reputation for clawing back SUBs when significant gift card spend is part of meeting the SUB.

If you’re going to do it, you should be aware that your bonus may be forfeit if they detect it.

Buying a prepaid Visa card is more risky than a store card like one for Home Depot.

I’ve purchased gift cards many times to get fuel points with Kroger. but I try to finish earning the SUB first so I don’t raise eyebrows at my credit card company.
