My stats:
Annual income: 145k
Monthly rent: 1800
Credit score: 679 Vantage (down from 682 a few weeks ago)
Credit history: 1 month total
Other credit items: Discover card (3k limit), Amex BCP (10k limit, does not show up in credit report), 11k car lease
Assets: 15k in Chase chequing account
I’m a Canadian who moved to the US for work 1 month ago, and my entire credit history in the US is 1 month old. I had pretty good credit in Canada, but I was told none of that transfers.
I’m meeting with a private client banker today to try to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, what are the odds I get approved?😭

You already have assets with JP Morgan sitting at 15K, thus indicating a good relationship with them. The odds you’ll get approved for the Sapphire Preferred I would say are good! Be of good faith! 🙏🏼
Odds are basically zero. Chase hardcodes a 12-month minimum credit history for the Sapphire cards. The standard outcome here is an instant denial and a wasted hard pull.
Having 15k in a Chase checking account helps a bit, but it wont override a one-month file for a premium travel card. Even a banker cant magic away the underwriting rules.
The downside risk is taking a hard inquiry when your file is incredibly thin. You already got the Amex, probably using your Canadian file to push that through. Thats your workhorse for now. The math says wait. Let the Discover and Amex age to a full year, then go for Chase.
