Wondering if anyone has had the same problems recertifying with Ed financial, and if so was it ever resolved?I’ve had contradictory and inaccurate messaging for about 5 months now since I’ve supposedly recertified:

    • January 31, 2026: I received a letter from Edfinancial stating I needed to recertify my loans by March 31, 2026.
    • February 3, 2026: I successfully submitted my recertification.
    • February 16, 2026: I received a letter from Edfinancial officially confirming my approval. The letter stated: "Thank you for your recent request for a Pay As You Earn (PAYE) Repayment plan. We are pleased to inform you that your request has been approved and applied to your Edfinancial Services account. For the 12-month period beginning on 04/05/26 your monthly payment amount will be $102.17 for the qualifying loan(s)."
    • Late February – March 2026: Despite the February 16 approval, automated systems continuously sent me letters threatening that if I did not recertify, my payment would increase to over $2,000 a month.
    • March 31, 2026: I received a new letter in the mail stating my monthly payment would be $842.05. This amount was never reflected in my online portal, adding to the confusion.
    • May 9, 2026 (Today): I received yet another letter, this time stating that I owe $2,223.10 per month starting June 5, 2026.
Throughout this period, I proactively called the customer service department multiple times to resolve these discrepancies. I spoke with multiple agents who all assured me that my recertification was complete and that I did not need to submit any further documentation. However, they provided conflicting information regarding my actual payment amount—some confirming the $102.17 figure, while others quoted the $842.05 figure. Several agents explicitly stated they were submitting notes to update my account to stop the automated, threatening letters, yet the systemic failures continued.

Most concerning is that my official Federal Student Aid account currently indicates my monthly payment is approximately $100 a month, with a recertification date of May 5, 2026 therefore indicating that Edfinancial’s internal systems are completely desynced from the Department of Education's official records.

I spoke with yet another agent today who reassured me that they would gain clarity on this issue by the end of the week but I have no faith in that. Additionally, I did ask him how many times he’s seen this happen before and he’s said about 3 and they have all been resolved. When I asked if I could speak to the people in charge of inputting data into these systems he said no. I did send a strongly worded message to ED financials CEO. Otherwise I’m at my wits end, aside from escalating my complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Student Aid Ombudsman, are there any other steps I can take to assure my recertification is processed correctly? Side note, I also tried to submit a complaint on studentaid.gov, and received an error stating that they were not currently accepting feedback.
