It's already been posted about within this sub and r/ChaseSapphire that Chase is officially retiring the 10% anniversary bonus on 10/2026. Official statement from Chase:

“The benefit will be discontinued as we regularly evaluate and update our benefits based on cardmember feedback and what benefits resonate most. We look forward to sharing additional updates to the Sapphire Preferred card in the near term.”

Personally I was more intrigued by the soft launch of a refresh announcement than I was the news of the anniversary bonus nerf. My assumption would be that we'll see a refresh in or around 10/2026. Predictions on what updates are coming?

    1. An increase in AF and probably a coupon book to “enrich benefits for members” of some BS like that, no doubt.

      Higher fee – $150 to $195

Maybe they introduce a gas or grocery multiplier

probably just gonna bump the annual fee and maybe throw in some dining credits or travel portal nonsense that most people won’t use anyway

losing the 10% anniversary thing sucks but chase always does this – takes away something decent and replaces it with flashy benefits that sound good on paper but are way more restrictive in practice. my guess is they’ll add some partnership deals and call it a day

Amex and chase continue to rake in $$ thanks to all the influencers convincing the travel masses…. ” its like the bank is paying YOU’ to use their card….

I’ll expect a $150 AF with some credits to offset it, which sucks because it’s pretty much the last $95 Points card that was worth it.

I’d be bummed if they offered an elevated SUB, me and P2 just signed up for the card’s 75k bonus with a 15k referral. It’s a $90 EAF for both cards for 165k Chase UR points.

I’ve been scheming on this. Chase acquiring the Apple Card, and then having the best portal for Apple products makes me want to think they have an opportunity to go for an ecosystem that rewards people who want tech.

It makes sense in the vein that not everyone wants to travel, and, right now our options are: cash back or travel points. Personally, I want an iPad Pro 512gb and racking up points to alleviate that $1500 cost is very attractive.

There’s probably a very large market of Apple/iPhone users who would be intrigued by the idea of using their cash back points for enhanced deals on Apple products.

So that is my guess. I think they’ll do a refresh in coordination with Apple. They’ll give credits for Apple services like Apple Music and cloud storage. But, they’ll need a strong marketing campaign to make their customer base know that, if they use the chase ecosystem, there will be some very valuable deals and ways to use their points.

I work in cell phones and there were rumblings of Apple offering cellular service via direct to cell technology. Basically, you would buy a phone from Apple and they would give you cell/data service. It would be huge for them to become the financier of that service.
