My wife's employer retirement plan is a 401(a) through Fidelity where the investments were pre-appointed to go into the TRP RETIRE 2060 C, which has a Gross Expense Ratio of 0.34%. Of course, the higher expense ratio is due to this retirement plan being managed, so I was wondering if my wife should keep the TRP or consider changing her investments into low-cost index funds.

I don't consider myself financially literate by any means and am having trouble identifying which of these other index funds would be the ideal low-cost/low-risk investment option. I think having something like a 3-fund portfolio with 60%US / 30%Int. / 10%Bonds would be ideal (if it is even possible). We would make sure to rebalance as needed. But I have no idea if any of the following index funds are any good. Looking for any insight on whether it is worth it for my wife to change her retirement investment or leave it as it is.

    Index funds available below:

    • (FSPGX) FID LG CAP GR IDX [0.035%]
    • (FLCOX) FID LG CAP VAL IDX [0.035%]
    • (VFTNX) VANG FTSE SOC IDX IS [0.03%]
    • VANG INST 500 IDX TR [0.01%]
    • (FMDGX) FID MID CAP GR IDX [0.05%]
    • (FIMVX) FID MID CAP VAL IDX [0.05%]
    • VG IS EXT MKT IDX C [0.025%]
    • (FECGX) FID SM CAP GR IDX [0.05%]
    • (VSIIX) VANG SM VAL IDX INST [0.05%]
    • VG IS TL INTL STK MK [0.045%]
    • (FSRNX) FID REAL ESTATE IDX [0.07%]
    • VG IS TOT BD MKT IDX [Bond]

Should my wife keep her employer-retirement investments in a TRP or change to Index Funds?
