Practical ways to reduce taxable events?

Long time lurker, first time poster. Hello and good afternoon friends. I being in LA i’m super heavily taxed. Besides moving to a lower taxed location like Florida, Maine or Texas does anyone, family or friends have apps or suggestions to get goods and services without a taxable event occurring? I’m hoping there might be some good ones for bartering, etc. thank you for any ideas.
