Went to Sam’s Club to stock up since our working pantry has gotten kind of barren and holy cow… The smaller sizes are extremely obvious, and even the “healthy” snacks and even condiments have HFCS added???
I’m grateful to be able to buy in bulk for staples because I can’t even imagine how much this would have cost at Walmart or another Grocery store.
I know this observation is beating a dead horse but today was just extremely eye opening for us. 🥴
The shrinkflation/enshittification is real

my 24 oz. jars are 22 now. my 16 oz. are 15 now. such 💩
Sam’s has removed almost 400 ingredients from *Member’s Mark* products, including HFCS. Some of their products have vanished for that reason. I think if you’re seeing a lot of HFCS, that’s name brand products crappifying themselves to remain somewhat price conscious.
Wow
I shop at Sam’s every week and I find that to be completely untrue.
Sam’s club is actually the least offensive store when it comes to HFCS, none of the member’s mark products have it at least that I can find (I mean there might be something, but if there is I haven’t found it yet) and most of the in house food does not have it either. I have even noticed that they replaced with items that don’t have it, the ice cream in the cafe definitely had it before and now it does not have HFCS.
But the brand name products yeah, those will have it. Heinz isn’t taking it out of their commercial ketchup bottles anytime soon. Oreo’s aren’t going HFCS free anytime soon. Soda brands are not removing it from their regular soda anytime soon. They do make simply heinz but that’s a totally different product. Anyways there’s a million brands of ketchup out there that don’t have it and are not expensive.
Sam’s club also has exceedingly good values for stuff, we found a set of dishes for $40 online, and calculated that to be $1.25 per piece, cheaper than what you can get dishes for anywhere else, even cheaper than thrift stores and yard sales. We needed dishes as we did not have many so this was a bargain.
The only thing that’s a bad deal is their electronics section unless an item is on deep clearance and their produce section is way more than you can reasonably use and is more expensive than other stores I go to for the most part, I have found a few deals but you really have to keep tabs on the unit price for those items and how fast you can use them up.
This is nothing new. Shrinkflation has been going on since the pandemic. How are you just now noticing it?
Members Mark orange juice is still 52oz bottles even though everyone else is now at 46oz bottles. So far they’re still holding the line.
